This brown sugar baked chicken is one of those easy dinners that never fails. It is juicy, flavorful, and has the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Made with simple pantry spices and ready in under 30 minutes, it is a go to for busy nights.
Servings: 4–6
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 18–22 minutes
Total Time: 30–35 minutes
Ingredients
1.75–3 lbs chicken breasts (about 3 large breasts)
3 tsp olive oil
1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
Optional:
1 tsp cayenne pepper (for heat)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin. This helps them cook evenly and stay juicy.
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, oregano, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Drizzle about 1 teaspoon of olive oil over each chicken breast and rub to coat both sides.
Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over both sides of the chicken. Gently press the seasoning into the chicken so it sticks well.
Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 3–5 minutes. Spoon some of the juices from the pan over the top before serving for extra flavor.
